Cardiac Surgery

If you are suffering from coronary artery disease, valvular disease, angina or atrial fibrillation, a cardiac procedure might provide relief from symptoms or even be life-saving. Cardiac surgery refers to surgery involving the heart and blood vessels. The board-certified surgeons at Hawthorne Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons are highly experienced in traditional surgery methods as well as the very latest surgical developments in the field. Many of these developments have led to less invasive heart surgery procedures and shorter heart surgery recovery times.

Before Your Cardiac Surgery or Procedure

At your pre-surgery consultation, you and your caregivers will have plenty of time to ask questions and learn about your condition and upcoming procedure. You will be given detailed instructions about how to prepare for your surgery, including any dietary restrictions. Your heart surgery recovery will also be outlined and, when possible, your follow-up appointments will be scheduled in advance.

If you are seeing us for a second opinion, your surgeon will review your suggested course of treatment and discuss with you recommendations for alternative treatments when applicable.  To learn more about second opinions, please click here.
